Description

Canadian Folk Musician and coastal water protector Luke Wallace is partnering with Friends of the San Juans for this benefit concert to celebrate and protect the Salish Sea. The concert will raise funds for Friends’ Marine Protection Program, which safeguards our region from the risk of oil transport and works to stop new oil infrastructure.

Admission is by donation. The event is open to people of all ages.

Luke is on a 3 month tour of the west coast of North America where he is teaming up with dozens of grassroots organizations, community initiatives and frontline groups for benefit concerts and action days. He is using his new album, “Us,” as a fundraising tool to drive money and energy toward projects that empower people and communities in the protection of the systems that sustain them.

Hailing from the Coast Salish Territory known as Vancouver, BC, Luke represents a global shift in environmental leadership. His "folktivism" has taken him far and wide; from France for COP21, Costa Rica where he represented his coast at a climate change conference, to roaming through Canada’s west coast and interior.

During his travels he strives to share as many stories as he can about the incredibly resilient and inspiring people fighting to protect the environments that sustain them and their communities. He believes that music and story are some of humanity’s most powerful tools and has seen firsthand their ability to inspire a shift in individuals’ and communities’ attitudes.
